How do you color in a photoshop brush?

I've been making some wallpapers lately and I wanted to make one with palm trees on it but the thing is the only way I know how to use a brush is by clicking a color and painting it that color. But I wanted to know how to make it look like a real palm tree. I wanted to color the leaves green and the trunk of the palm tree but I dont know how. Does anybody know how to color in a brush different colors? How do you color in a photoshop brush?
Hi,

If you have a brush with the whole tree on it, pick any color,

put it on your canvas,

create a new layer on top of your tree

clip it with the layer underneath ( hold down the alt key and put the mouse between the two layers you will two circles overlapping)

set the blending mode to color

brush again but this time a round one

pick green for the leaves and paint the leaves

pick another color and paint the rest,

ctrl, atl, shift E, will merge all the layers onto one on top of the others one, and you can start adding some effects style like drop shadow, bevel and emboss and so on.How do you color in a photoshop brush?
Not really sure what exactly you are having difficulties in!!!

If you want to change to different colors, there are many ways to do it:

1. Go to Window tab on very top of screen. Click on Color. You will then have a palette. It does not matter what kind of tool you are using. When you move your mouse on the palette, the tool will automatically change to ';eyed dropper.'; Click on any color you want. The color swatch on the tool window would change to the color you just select.

2. You can directly click on the color swatch on the tool window. Another smaller window will pop up. Choose whatever color you want from there, and click ';ok.';

3. Click on eyed-dropper on the tool window. Now your tool is eyed dropper. Move it to any color you want to on a layer, and the eyed-dropper will pick up the exact same color. Then, you can use that to match exact color to need to color in somewhere else.

If you have difficulties choosing different brushes, then:

1. Click on brush tool on tool window. Then, look at the tab right below the function tab at the very top of screen. The tab is brush property. You can choose different sizes, shapes, opacity, etc...

If you just want to make a palm tree, then:

1. Use angular shape brush, pick green color, and draw leaves.

2. Go to the color swatch on the tool window and click on the swatch to change the color to brown.

3. Draw the trunk.
