Which Photoshop is the best and what is the price range?

I want to do different and interesting things with my pictures, but I don't know which Photoshop to buy. Please advise. Thanks.Which Photoshop is the best and what is the price range?
If you don't have the $600 for Photoshop CS2, the next best thing is a software called PhotoPlus 10 Studio Pack. It's the best Photoshop clone with a lot of the same features and it's only $79.

If you have the money, then Photoshop CS2 is the way to go. You get the full functionality to create whatever your creative desires lead you to make. With an uber assortment of Plug-Ins there really isn't anything you can't create with Photoshop.Which Photoshop is the best and what is the price range?
CS2- or you could wait 6 months for CS3.
Don't buy Photoshop, by Paint Shop Pro 9 or 7. Price is $100, but look on ebay.
AdobePhoto is an excellent program and used extensively by graphic designers and photographers but it is very expensive. If money is not an object that's what I would recommend. There are some that you can download for free such as GIMP.

If you are not sure which program to buy, try out some different programs through http://www.adobe.com/. They have a very wide selection of free 30 to 60 day downloads of their programs so that you can try them out before you buy. There is no obligation to buy the products after the trial and you can try out as many as you wish. They also have free tutorials and lessons on using the programs.

It's free to sign up and will help you in making your decision. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • What's the difference between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements?

I have photoshop elements 6.0 and I'm trying to do various things with it. I really want to make my own comic, but it seems everytime I Google how to do it, it just comes up as photoshop. What's the difference between the two? Which one is better? Are there things that you can do on one that you can't do on the other?

Thanks in advance! ^^What's the difference between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements?
Photoshop is generally the entire CS version. It is a professional program, and includes a wide array of features that the average home user wouldn't even know where to start with.

Elements is a stripped out version of Photoshop CSx. It includes only the easy to use features that home users can get their head around. Whereas Photoshop requires some sort of training to effectively use, a somewhat savvy user could get a handle on Elements with regular use over a week or two.

Photoshop CSx is significantly more expensive. It runs upwards of $600 dollars. Elements, you can pick up for around 100 bucks.

If you want a program that does most of what Photoshop can do, only is free, go with GIMP. It is more advanced that Elements, although not quite on par with Photoshop CSxWhat's the difference between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements?
Photoshop has photo editing tools, some graphics tools and a better choice of art tools than Elements does. But neither its graphics nor its art tools are considered professional quality so Photoshop owners who need those things also have Adobe Illustrator and Corel Painter. PS is also capable of pre-print color separation and a few other things involved with post-production stuff. After you learn how to use Elements, you can usually figure out the workarounds you need to do Photoshop tutorials. How are you doing your comics? Drawing and coloring? Graphics?

If you plan on drawing/painting, why not use a dedicated art program?

Elements has had the dark workspace since version 6 - or maybe even version 5 (I use 4 and 6). If you have Elements 7, then, yes, you can change the look of the workspace. I don't have version 7 myself but others in the Elements group I belong to were celebrating their ability to go back to a less eye-straining workspace. Check under Edit%26gt;Preferences or in the View Menu ....or in Help. If you have Elements 6, there's no way to change the look.

Photoshop Elements is tailored for the everyday person and people who generally don't know a lot about computers. You'd normally use it to edit photos (remove red-eye etc.) there isn't that much else it can do though If I'm honest. Its a no frills program compared with Photoshop which targeted towards professionals. The program has a lot more tools, more expensive and personally if I'm very difficult to get the hang of (its like the language equivalent of a computer program, quite simple to learn the basics but to master it takes ages)

How do I reduce a screenshot in Photoshop without it becoming blurry?

I have made a screenshot directly from a handheld electronic device and am trying to reduce the image size using Photoshop CS3. When I have it the size I want it to be, all the images and text on the image are blurry and no longer readable. How can I reduce it and still have a crisp image? How do I reduce a screenshot in Photoshop without it becoming blurry?
The first thing you want to do is make sure your view is set to 100% (that means you are looking at the pixels how they will come out), to do that click on your magnifying glass twice and on the bottom left corner of your image now should say 100%.

The go to Image %26gt; Image size and change the size of your image. always make sure you have 'Constrain Proportions' checked so your image won't get distorted and check 'Resample Image' and select Bicubic Sharper (which is the best interpolation method for reductions)

Just keep in mind that text becomes unreadable below 9 points on screen and below 8 points on paper, so no matter how you resize if your text gets smaller than that there is no way around it.

You can read more about resampling from the link below and there is also a link to Sharpening images in that document. How do I reduce a screenshot in Photoshop without it becoming blurry?
If you reduce the size of the image it is obvious that it will not remain crystal clear. You are bound to loose some pixels in the process. Text is the first to get hit by image manipulation.

My suggestion is first delete the portion of the image which you think is not necessary, and then resize it.

You want to reduce it right? Well, I don't know much about Photoshop CS3 (I use CS2) but it should be possible to reduce the size bicubic or nearest neighbour (something like that). Experiment with those things, you'll find them in Edit -%26gt; Image Size.
If it does actually become a little blurry when reducing file size, mess with bicubic, and also go to Filter --%26gt; sharpen. It may add back the clarity it lost.

How do I make special characters in photoshop on a laptop?

On my desktop, if hit alt +0149 in photoshop it makes a bullet. This does not work on my laptop. I believe this is because I do not have a number keypad on my laptop keyboard. Is there a way to do this using the numbers at the top of the keypad? How do I make special characters in photoshop on a laptop?
Could open your Character Map in Windows and select different fonts which gives you different symbols. To open ';Character Map';, go to All Programs-Accesories-System Tools-Character Map. Not all systems may have ';Character Map'; installed and if it is missing use Windows Setup to install it. Also on some systems it is located directly in ';Accessories'; rather than ';Accessories-System Tools';.

Alt + 3 = 鈾? but you need to know more.To use the Alt codes you must have the Number Keypad on. On a PC, just press the NumLock key and light should come on and you can use the Alt codes.

For laptops, You have to use the Fn + Alt keys together and the number keypad is the numbers on certain dedicated letters keys. Check your Help for your laptop to show which key engages and locks the Fn (Number Pad) on or see: How to Use the Numeric Keypad on Your Laptop - http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/ho鈥?/a>

RonHow do I make special characters in photoshop on a laptop?
If it doesn't already work with the numbers at the top of the keyboard, then it probably won't. Unless there's some kind of setting that you have made on you desktop and not on your laptop for it to do this. I've never used photoshop so I don't know. But what I do know is that you can buy a usb number key pad for your laptop. It has the same exact buttons as a desktop keyboard's number key pad and you just plug in into a usb port on your laptop.
you have to activate the num pad on the laptop by clicking a button on laptops i have seen it is labeled as a fn in blue letters.

Every time I try it pastes in some random position, but I am trying place things exactly so when you go between pages the text and logos remain in the same spot.Photoshop Question: How do I copy and paste layers from different images?
Copy and paste throws the object dead center (a good trick to know if you need to quickly center something). There are at least 2 ways around that.

One is to select the layer in the first document, hold down the shift key and drag the layer over to the second document.

The second is to select the layer in the first document, right click and select Duplicate Layer. Then, select the other document in the pulldown window.

Hopefully those will do it for you.Photoshop Question: How do I copy and paste layers from different images?
Assuming the documents are the same size,

if you don't want any realignment the easiest is probably to select the layer you want and go Select-All (on mac its command+A) Copy, then select the other document and just hit paste, it'll put right in place.

Otherwise, turn on snap and just drag the layer onto the new document, the alignment won't be identical but the snap should help find its original position easier.

How do I make pictures in Photoshop smaller without losing the sharpness of the original?

I have a couple large 300dpi stock photos that i'm using for a publication I'm designing for work. When I shrink them down (with constrained proportions of course), the pictures have really blocky edges when it comes out for printing. Also, the text is blocky as well.

The publication has a res of 300dpi. I'm using Photoshop CS3.

How do I get the text and pictures sharp for printing? How do I make pictures in Photoshop smaller without losing the sharpness of the original?
Do a ';Save As'; and work with the copy and keep the original. That way if you mess it up you can start again. How do I make pictures in Photoshop smaller without losing the sharpness of the original?
just zoom into the picture, and then crop it.
I've been doing graphic / digital design for three years and just finished a set of T shirts for a band... obviously, they were done in 300dpi. What I do to get a good looking preview of the image at a smaller size is zoom out to something like 16.5% or so (any % where the image is smooth and small enough to your liking is fine). Then I take a screen shot, create a new document, paste my screenshot and proceed to crop the image. Comes out smooth, sharp %26amp; delicious!
Are these photos downloaded from a website or the like? Because those photos are never 300dpi to begin with, more like 72.

Instead of using constrained resizing, in an individual document, using a photo only, resample the image (Image %26gt; Image Size %26gt; Document Size %26gt; check Resample image). Then change the dimensions.

Are you printing the image through Photoshop, or another layout program like InDesign, Quark, or (gulp) Word.

Check that you are printing to a PostScript supported printer.

If you are trying to lay graphics and type in Photoshop, on top of the stock photo, then look into using Vector Masks (under the Layer pull-down menu) to maintain crisp edges for vector items like type, while in a bitmap environment.

What's the difference between photoshop and photoshop elements?

What's the difference between photoshop elements 7 and photoshop 7? Which one has more features? Which one's better? I want to know before I spend money on one thing when I should have spent it on the other. What's the difference between photoshop and photoshop elements?
    1. I used Photoshop 7 in 2002 or 2003. It's a very old version. The newest version of Photoshop - and the only one you can legally purchase from Adobe and its resellers - is Photoshop CS4.

    2. ';Better'; doesn't mean much if you're not willing to spend the time to learn how to use those features. Which program is ';better'; depends on what you plan on doing to your photos. If you've never used a photo editing program or have only used the basic editors like Picasa, Picnik, etc., then get Photoshop Elements to learn the basics of Photoshop: resizing, workflow, the Main Menus, how to use Styles, etc. These are the same in Elements and Photoshop because Elements is a build of Photoshop. When you outgrow Elements and are ready to move to Photoshop, you can get the cheaper upgrade pricing.

    3. If you're an experienced photo editor and know that you need channels, a full compliment of adjustment layers, vector drawing tools, Lab Color Mode and CMYK separation for professional printing or maybe you just can't wait to start recording your own actions, then buy Photoshop CS4.What's the difference between photoshop and photoshop elements?
Photoshop elements is a heavily stripped version of Photoshop. The full version of Photoshop is a lot better, but it's also 10 times more expensive. If you have the cash, definitely go for the full verison of Photoshop.
I would recommend gimp before you spend money on them both. it does the same thing for free.

www.gimp.org try it out first .
try here http://downallsoftware.com/ to see their details, good luck

What is the difference between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements?

Besides the pricetag... Basically what CAN'T I do with Elements compared to the full version? What is the difference between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements?
Photoshop is an expensive program that has all the bells and whistles used in professional graphics production. It also has a steep learning curve. Elements is a reasonably priced program designed for home and amateur (non-professional) users who work mainly with RGB jpgs, i.e. most of us. Elements has a bunch of technical tools (like the Adobe Camera Raw dialog) that are also part of Photoshop. Since it's built on Photoshop, it also has a learning curve, especially at the beginning, but it's easier to master. If you need CMYK color separation for printing, vector drawing tools and a gazillion controls, get Photoshop. Which program is right for you depends on what you need to do to photos, how much you can afford to spend and how patiently you can sit while learning to use the program. What is the difference between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements?
A very lucid analysis of the 2 programs

    Photoshop?!?!?!?

So Im able to fix over/under exposed pics...but now i have a picture thats literally half and half...how do i fix both sides?Photoshop?!?!?!?
    curves.

put three points on the default line

    one in the middle.

one closer to the bottom [where the perpendicular lines cross]

one closer to the top [where the perpendicular lines cross]

    the bottom one represents shadow

    the middle represents midtones

    and top represents highlights

adjust these until they are accuratePhotoshop?!?!?!?
What happened ... did someone shoot using flash at too high a sync speed? Usually when that happens one half of the exposure is correctly exposed.

You may have to carefully cut the image in half and then correct the exposure and then reunite them. Care will have to be taken to make sure the gamma of both halves are identical. Be sure to save the original file somewhere safe in case you have to send it out to a pro retoucher.
Are you familiar with Layers and layer masks?

I'd suggest doing one layer fixing each aspect (I mean, one layer fixing overexposure, one layer that fixes underexposure) and then applying a layer mask to each.

Using a soft black brush (size dependent on your image) Fill in the part you DON'T want to see.

So, if the right side is underexposed, Duplicate the layer, apply your tricks to it, and then apply a vector/layer mask. Then fill in the left side accordingly to where the lighting is off. Repeat this for the overexposed layer.
Use the lasso tool and cut the photo in half by cutting and pasting it. You will probably have to mess around with the feathering feature on the lasso tool to get the two halves to fade into each other. Once you have the two separated, adjust them. It sounds easy, but it may take a while to get it just right.

Take a bunch of pictures with the camera in the same position. Import them onto the computer. Put them on top of each other, each with its own layer. Use layer masks to reveal/hide certain parts of each image.

You can fill a room with multiples of yourself. That's what most people do anyway.

Also, try to take pictures that you have taken where you like the colors or shapes or whatever, and put them on top of each other in layer as mentioned before. Instead of just using layer masks, see what happens when you use ';blending modes'; under ';layer styles';. You can make certain parts of the layers bleed into each other, or disappear, etc...

Go to a website that has people modeling against white backgrounds. Take these models and recontextualize them. Calvin klein anorexia woman?: put her into a meat packing plant, I don't know.
You can actually make money but it's really not anything (at all). Like $5 or $10 bucks. But the website is http://forums.digitalpoint.com/ and you can register if you want. It kinda helps you get the hang of making photoshop images by entering contests and if you win you get a couple bucks.
Get a stock photo and play around with the adjustments and blend modes. Also, look through the filters. Another thing you can do is type a name or sentence and use the layer styles to see the different effects, like bevel emboss, gradient overlay, glows, shadows...have fun with it!
I always find that doing POSTERS in photoshop is a great way to practice not only your design %26amp; layout skills, but also an intriguing way to practice your digital illustration and just to experiment... because all posters are different and there are no limits.
Create collages of your favorite movies... or just edit a picture of yourself and make it look alien.. or idk. Make a peaceful landscape horrific!

Plus you can get a protable version that runs off your pen drive and so does not have to be installed
Photoshop is an expensive program to start with, you are looking to spend at least $400, if not more. If you have a Student ID, you can get a discount for the bundle. But it sounds like you don't need Photoshop that bad, so I would recommend Photoshop elements. It only runs for about $100, perhaps less. Everyone is telling you to download it off Limewire or Bit Torrent but that never really works and you might get a virus with it.

If you want free, then I recommend Google's Picasa 2. It's a free download and not hard to use at all. My wife uses that program for her photos and she is happy with it.
Well there is only one Photoshop and thats Adobe Photoshop, but unlike the previous answer that states it as 拢25 it is actually 拢1655.58 pounds. Thats the best photoshop.

Though there are cheaper alternatives, some of which are free.

    Buy Photoshop Elements.

Less than $100, and you get the REAL thing.

Best Buy sells it - at least the PC version. For the Mac version go to either Adobe or Apple. You can order it online.

I know you're getting lots of info about this or that ';photoshop'; program - some of them free, etc. But there is only one Photoshop. It's the one (in several versions, of course) that's made by Adobe.

After you get it, use the Help files. Everything you need to know at the outset is there. For more advanced learning and ideas, join NAPP. Their magazine alone is worth the price.

    Photoshop?

should i try the free trial thing? i read like everything about it.. does anyone know more than what the adobe website says?Photoshop?
Hello Nein. Yes.Yes... do try the trial version of Photoshop. Otherwise, how will you know if it is something you can get into or even want to invest in. If you know the retail price, you also know it is definately an investment. You should download and play with the features, experiment... try some of the filters you have been curious about. I have had Photoshop since 5 came out... maybe 6 years now. I am truly fascinated at what it allows me to do with my photographs. I buy tutorials, books and magazines which provide other challenges and introduces me to some of the features I have never tried. You should do it... and anyway... what's the downside??? I believe it is a win-win. :))

    Thanks for reading.Photoshop?
Depends on what you want to do with it... I don't know what Adobe says but I recommend you try the trial, it's free after all. I like working with PS, you can do pretty much everything with it (if you know how to ^_^, you might want to look at a few tutorials). But if you only want to edit a few photos you could also try free software like Gimp.

    Photoshop?

if i get a picture from the internet and photoshop it does it make the end result my picture?Photoshop?
I work as a designer at a tv station - the rule of thumb we are given is we can use graphics from the internet as sources, but they have to be so modified that they are not recognizable are the original.

Also, there are many graphics on the internet that are public domain ... that you can use freely.Photoshop?
No it doesn't. Its not all original no matter how much to try to change it. Out of respect for the person the picture it belongs to, I would ask permission to use their image, especially if you planning to show it anywhere. people would normally appreciate that nine times out of ten and allow it. If you want the work to be original, what ever it is research it, do loads of searches, and create your own work born from you inspired by others. Art is born out of imagination and inspiration.
It depends on how much it's altered. If you change a color or a little of this or that, then no it's still theirs. But if you swirl it or distort it to where you can not even tell where it came from or what it originally was I'd say yes, do with it what you will.
no its not yours if its still recognisable. however if you dont distribute it publically, then theres no problems with using it if you're worried about getting sued for copyright
doubt it, it's like remixing a tune
No - even if you just use someone elses picture as the basis for an illustration they are still the originator of that image.

Think of if this way - you do a drawing of the mona lisa, everyone is going to know it is the mona lisa and that you did not create and original piece of art. If you take the actual Mona Lisa and draw a moustache on it, that does not make it your painting.

Just becasue your source is not well known does not detract from the fact that it is not actually yours.
NO the picture belongs to the person that took it. Just making changes to it doesn't make it yours. You can use elements of a photo to create something new. For example lets say you wanted to use a unique clock from a picture and insert it into your own work. The end product would be unique and you could claim it as your own.
no, the copyright still resides with the owners of the original image.

    Photoshop?

i want to learn how to make an image black and white and then make certain colors stand out. help anybody?Photoshop?
What you are asking for is how to do a selective color black and white image. instead of going into detail check out the link belowPhotoshop?
Photoshop is a great package. Try the help screens and playing around with the menus. Try the color balance features in the image menu. Experiment. Always start by selecting your entire image and pressing control j to make a second layer on which you make your changes. You can always then trash that layer to go back to your original. Try making a layer for each of the primary colors only then changeing each to grayscle. Try autocolorbalance. Though I took a course in it, there is still much to the product I'm still learning. Check bookstores for discounted books. It's a package worth spending a little to learn.
if your program is adobe photoshop, i use that often just for fun.

wht you want to do is go to the button IMAGE click on it go to MODE and choose GREY SCALE that makes it blakc and white.

after that switch to RGB COLOR click on it and fill in the places with the color you want.
Use the tutorial wackywall gave you, it is a really good tutorial. It will give you a better look than simply using the gray-scale option mentioned previously.
You need to select the area of the picture that you want to be in color using magic wand or quick mask mode or whichever method of selection you feel works best for you. You then need to go to Select %26gt; Inverse. This will reverse your selection to everything EXCEPT the part you wanted in color. Then go to Image %26gt; Mode %26gt; Grayscale. Now the part you wanted in color should be in color.

Hi. I looked at your site, and I will be bookmarking it because it looks like you have some very interesting tutorials (I am always happy to find more Photoshop tutorials).

But I do have one criticism. You really need to have someone proofread all your text for your tutorials (and your site in general). I saw lots of typos and inconsistent usages, and some grammar problems as well. I worked more than 20 years as a technical editor, so I really notice these things. I know many people won't notice it, but to me, it shows a good attention to detail and quality when any text you use is spelled correctly and clearly written.

Okay, my explanation may not be too detailed so I hope you are familiar with Photoshop Elements.

    1) Use one of the lasso tools to select the area you want colored.

    2) use the fill tool to fill the area in, if you want you can apply a blur to the fill or smooth to the selection.

    3) Set the blend mode to ';color';.

    4) Do this for whatever you want colored.

TIP: use each color on a different layer.

There are no major differences between them.
